Classes

The goal is to build life-long musicianship skills.  Not just the ability to sight read a piece of music put in front of you, but to be able to really play with your friends, write out a complex beat (so that you can do it again) and join in in some way without music.  While all my students may not have acheived this, most that work in orchestra are well on their way.

The steps:

  1. Learn the basics through group or private lessons
  2. Join Jr. Orchestra and develop ensemble skills (perform in a few performances) while increasing knowledge of the instrument through lessons.
  3. Do a camp whenever possible.  It's like a pressure cooker (15 hours - 8 to 10 songs and v-o-i-l-a, its like a semester in a can)!
  4. Join Orchestra and the journey is well under way.  A few years in orchestra and without realizing it, you're a musician.
  5. Take further training in Music Theory, and it all starts to come together
  6. Rise to the top and be picked to participate in a trio/quartet/quintet for a wedding, or other prestigious event

Many have traveled this path, and whether they decide to take further training its up to them.  They are already musicians.  We've learned the value of shaking off mistakes, how to add to the music and move forward.

I hope many of you will join the process to musicianship, it is VERY rewarding.
